JOE W. TOMEK
1887-1957
A little more:
The following was found on the Findagrave.com memorial for Joe W. Tomek, author unknown.
On Dec. 29, 1909, Joseph W. Tomek, son of Jan & Marie (Tuckova) Tomek, married Helen Clara Petrasek. Joe was employed by the W. C. Fellers Department Store, where he had been working since his school days. Later, he and several other men built the brickyard south of Table Rock. He also had a butcher shop, which he soon sold, devoting his time to the brickyard. After it sold, Joe had several different jobs. In the 1930's he worked for the government, granting farm loans to destitute farmers. Later he was in the insurance and real estate business until his illness forced him to retire in the early 1950's; he was a victim of multiple sclerosis, and was bedfast his last two years.

The editor adds one correction, that Joe did not BUILD either of the brickyards, built in 1887 and 1893 when he was a boy and which were eventually consolidated into the "upper" brickyard south of town, which Joe W. managed and also owned for many years.
